The Polybian Romans would first fight Carthage (who are hard to win with in DBA), then take on the Gallic hordes. We used to run a slightly a-historical conqueror’s campaign back in the day with our 1/72 plastic figures. I realized one of our crew has a Roman army purchased a while back that may even be based for this new scheme. With 4 KN elements and 8 LH, that would be 20 heavy cavalry and 24 light horse. I am thinking of 5 cataphracts and 3 horse archers per element. It helps calculate out how many figures to buy. I am seriously looking at the Khurasan Parthians. Broken bayonets in 15mm is beyond my power of repair, not to mention broken ankles. Anthony Barton did make some AB Romans that were huge, nearly 1/72. I suspect I can only get a single rank of 4 on the mounted base. I figure i can get 12 legionaries on a base in two ranks. So far, my madness has taken the form of wanting to use 15mm figures on bases for the larger scale, that is 60x30mm for foot and 60X40 for mounted.
